Just Me

The question on should college athletes be paid seem like an never ending process. While many believe that college athletes should, many have opposite opinions about this on going controversial topic. Many people believe that the athletes are students first and should make their education the number one priority. Paying college athletes may become unfair to other students if the NCAA decides this is a great option. Athletes are already on full ride scholarships that cover tuition, fees, room, board, and textbooks. If colleges decided to pay athletes, will this effect their ability to perform at an great level and will education be an priority. Many athletes argue since they do not have any time to get a job, they should be paid. Although, this is true in most cases, paying athletes would ruin college sports because the larger universities would dominate smaller universities and would not balance out correctly. Here is college basketball analyst Jay Bilas on why he feel college athletes should be paid. In addition to his theory, here is another clip of Bryant Gumbel as he discusses the possibility of paying college athletes.
